• The Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women recently elected officers for 2002-03.Vanessa Boyer, associate director of Urban Ministries at FreshMinistries, will chair the commission.The other officers are: Candace Moody, first vice chair; Debra Wotiz, second vice chair; and Jackie Williams, secretary. The 25-member commission, created in 1972 by former Mayor Hans G. Tanzler, serves in an advisory capacity to the mayor and the community in respect to all matters pertaining to the status of women.

• Bruce Barcelo, principal of Barcelo & Company, has been named to the board of directors of Junior Achievement.

• Family First is hosting Father & Kids Day Monday at Alltel Stadium, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Speakers include Delores Barr Weaver, co-owner of the Jaguars, Coach Tom Coughlin, quarterback Mark Brunell and several other players

• The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida has named its new officers and directors. Officers are Jim Johns, president; Karen Kelley, vice president of board development/president-elect; Robert Utsey, vice president of resource development; Mike Liff, vice president of finance/treasurer; Sheri Thomas, corporate secretary; John Howard, immediate past president; and Errol Sewell, chairman, associates board. Directors are Chris Barrack, Dana Bradford, Jack Diamond, John Dickinson, Nancy Edwards, Rea Fleckenstein, Scottie Gartner, John Granby, George Grune, Frank C. Heath Jr., Quynh Ngo, Ron Owen, Frank Pixler, Marc Smith and Edie Williams.

• Jacksonville Sister Cities Association vice president Jane Wood has been elected to the Sister Cities International board of directors. Wood is a corporate community affairs manager and public relations consultant and wife of former City Council member Terry Wood.
