• Win Thomas of American Express is the 2002 president of the Southside Business Men’s Club. He succeeds Tom Carroll of General Business Services. The first vice president is Gene Maszy of Retirement Services. Other vice presidents are Jim Parrish, Bowditch Insurance; Joe Day of Deal Services; and Chuck Powell, Advanced Insurance Underwriters. • Lamar Nash of The Haskell Company was re-elected chairman of the Florida First Capital Finance Corporation. The Tallahassee-based development company handles Small Business Administration loans for commercial real estate and equipment.
• Blue Cross gives out its annual awards today. They’ll honor an employee (Mainor Andrews, a service associate) and a Jaguar (Renaldo Wynn) for community leadership and give checks to three charities: The Bridge of Northeast Florida, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Sickle Cell Disease Association.
• Dave Howie and Elmore Harrell have joined the accounting firm of LaFaye, Brock & Associates.
• Marie “Toni” Farren has been named director of institutional research at Jacksonville University and Rody Burg has been promoted to director of executive development and training in the university’s Davis College of Business.
