• At Elkins Constructors, Brian Zettle was promoted from assistant project manager to project manager, Rob Crowe was promoted from project manager to project director and David Birkelbach was promoted from an intern to assistant project manager.

• Comedian George Carlin, who is known for his standup monologues with a strong emphasis on social commentary, is scheduled to perform Friday at 8 p.m. at the T-U Center. Tickets are $45, $37 and $29. For information, call 632-3373.

• Marci Weinberg has joined the BurdetteB2B advertising agency as associate director of strategy and brand development.

• Capt. Kirk Lewis, formerly the commanding officer of Jacksonville University’s NROTC unit, has moved up to an executive directorship in the school’s College of Lifelong Learning. Also, former JU and Orlando Magic basketball player Otis Smith will receive the school’s Humanitarian Award this year for his efforts in child advocacy.
