The city issued a permit Wednesday for a $15.31 million renovation of the 100 W. Bay St. building for VyStar Credit Union.

Dana B. Kenyon Co. is the contractor for the project.

VyStar Credit Union has been demolishing the interior of the seven-story West Bay Street structure it bought next to its 23-story Downtown tower.

VyStar Credit Union bought the SunTrust Tower at 76 S. Laura St. and a parking garage in July 2018 for $59 million and the adjacent former Life of the South Building on West Bay Street in February for $5 million.

VyStar is renovating both buildings for its headquarters and has begun moving employees into the tower, which it rebranded as VyStar Tower.

VyStar will move its headquarters from its current base at 4949 Blanding Blvd. in West Jacksonville.
