WHAT DOES SHE DO?
“I’m in charge of all on-air promotional spots for radio, television and our website. That includes the look of the station, what shows to promote and anything special.”
WHAT’S REWARDING ABOUT YOUR JOB?
“Working with the people that I work with, as well as the volunteers. To be able to see something as big as our June auction come together with mostly volunteers and workers here from WJCT and reach our goal is just amazing to me.”
WHAT’S MOST CHALLENGING?
“I’m doing everything for the first time so it’s the challenge of learning all these new ways of doing things or new jobs and overcoming whatever issues pop up along the way.”

EDUCATION
A bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration on broadcast journalism from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
WHY CHOOSE THIS MAJOR?
“I struggled for the first couple of years. At first I thought I was going into psychology, then it was public relations, but I enjoyed the technical side of communication. I did an internship with a local television station. TV is something that gets in your blood and is hard to get out.”
WHAT BROUGHT YOU HERE?
“I got out of college and decided I had to live at the beach so I moved to Wilmington, coupled with knowing that you’re first starting out in TV you need to move to a smaller market. Wilmington seemed the place to go and I got a job at an NBC affiliate there producing. I decided I wanted to move into promotions. The news aspect of television is sort of a 24/7 job; I liked that at the time. Now I like the normalcy. You could never really plan on anything because if anything major happens, it is all hands on deck.”
HOBBIES
An outdoors enthusiast, Beyle enjoys going to the beach, bicycle riding, walking, rollerblading and brushing up on current events in magazines. She also participates in the comedy group Improv Jacksonville, which performs twice a week downtown.
HOW DID YOU HOOK UP WITH IMPROV JACKSONVILLE?
“When I lived in Wilmington I had a friend who was a photographer and he was involved in a troupe. We saw him religiously. It was something I always thought would be a lot of fun. About a year ago I saw an audition ad in the Times-Union and I thought ‘What the heck? What do I have to lose?’”
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO DO IMPROVISATION COMEDY?
“A bit of it is good natural instinct but a lot can be learned. The director we have now was taught by SCTV [Second City Television] in Chicago.”
RESIDENCE
Beyle resides in Neptune Beach with her roommate Beth Meckley, technical director for Improv Jacksonville.
SPECIAL INTERESTS
JCCI and the Humane Society. She enjoys the television show “Whose Line is It Anyway?,” dining out, especially if it’s Ragtime in Atlantic Beach, traveling to new places, visiting friends or reading. Her last read was “A Painted House.”
