Becky Good is the property manager for Regency Centers, which manages 121 Atlantic Place.

WHAT DOES SHE DO?

“I oversee the overall function of the properties and the tenants.” She manages five buildings around Jacksonville that total 500,000 square feet.

WHEN DID SHE GET INTO REAL ESTATE?

In 1980. While living in Tallahassee she joined Sun Belt Properties. She was transferred to its southeast headquarters in Jacksonville in 1982, where she started learning property management. In 1984, she joined Progressive Real Estate Management and served as its director of operations for four years. She joined Property Services, Inc. as a property manager in 1989 and managed a portfolio of multi-family, commercial and industrial investments. She left the commercial field in 1991 and joined May Management Services as a community associations manager. She managed residential developments for large-scale developers including Arvida, Taylor Woodrow and Pulte Homes. After eight years of residential property management, she joined Regency Centers in 1999 as the property manager for their third party commercial management division.

BEFORE REAL ESTATE?

She was a credit manager for a retail store in Tallahassee.

Good sits on the board of directors for Jacksonville’s Building Owners and Manager’s Association and participates in local charities.

Greenville, S.C. She moved to Tallahassee when she was four.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT PROPERTY MANAGEMENT?

“The people. I’m a people person and I enjoy the challenge of bring tenants around that may have been not so friendly in the past. I wanted to help them be grateful for the services we can provide and enjoy where they work.”

LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT PROPERTY MANAGEMENT?

“Paperwork.”

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE INTERESTED IN GETTING INTO PROPERTY MANAGEMENT?

“Join a firm that will train and spend time with you. Spend time with someone who will assist you in knowing what decisions are right because sometimes in the management field your decisions have to quick and they have to be accurate.”

She is single and had an outdoor cat named Kitty. “She comes to see me when she hears I’m outside.”

HOBBIES

Scuba diving. “It is my passion. I don’t do fresh water, I do the salt water diving. I’ve seen of the most beautiful scenery and colors. It really is quiet and peaceful.” She also enjoys going to the gym, gardening and reading.

FAVORITES

“Forrest Gump” is her favorite movie. “The Success Factor,” which father Fred Good wrote, is her favorite book. If she had to pick a favorite television show, it would be “Seinfeld.” Because she loves sushi, Yoshi Japanese Restaurant is her top spot when dining out. Her favorite place to visit is 60 feet under water.
