Jeff Evans has been the leasing and marketing representative for Pattillo Construction for two and a half years.

WHAT DOES HE DO?

“Fifty percent of my time is marketing to new and existing businesses in the area as well as throughout the country. The other 50 percent is dealing with tenant relations and permitting.

WHAT DOES PATTILLO CONSTRUCTION DO?

They develop industrial warehousing space for the operation of distribution and manufacturing businesses. The company is headquartered in Atlanta and has a Southeastern presence. Pattillo Construction is located inside Westside Industrial Park, which they developed. The Westside Industrial Park is their main park in Jacksonville. “We have about 4 million square feet of existing space. We are starting a new development on the Northside called NorthPointe Industrial Park, which will have 3 million square feet. It could have a 5-10 year build out depending on the demand.”

PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

He is a member of the Commercial Real Estate Women of Jacksonville and National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.

WHY CHOOSE CREW?

Evans said they looked at several organizations and CREW just stood out to him and the owner of the company, Peter Anderson. “We heard of this new organization that was starting for women, but not excluding men. They were encouraging men to join as well. I made the initial contact and was invited to a meeting. Women do commercial deals just like men do. There are developers, real estate agents, surveyors, title insurance and attorney women members of CREW. It’s really great networking. We may not do a deal in the first or second year with CREW, but that one in the third year more than pays for all of the dues and commitments up until that point.”

LESSONS LEARNED?

Evans said his biggest lesson is that you have to have patience with commercial deals because commercial real estate deals are typically a very long process. “Another important lesson I have learned is that the longer that you are in the business, it does come a little easier. Your longevity and tenure in commercial real estate is very important.”

HISTORY BEFORE PATTILLO?

He started his career with Rogers Taylor as a real estate broker before moving on to Shultz Properties. He then joined Corim, Inc.,doing leasing and management of office space. Before Pattillo, he was with a real estate trust, Equity One Realty and Management, Inc., handling leasing and management of retail shopping centers.

COLLEGE

Evans has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Florida.

FAMILY

He just recently married Susan Allen Evans who works at HDR, Inc. as a marketing coordinator. Together they have two children, Cherish, 19, and Carter, 5.

PERSONAL SIDE

He enjoys running, spending time with his family, traveling and attending sporting events. Evans just recently participated in the Tour de Pain. He and his wife live in the San Jose area. A movie he saw recently and would recommend is “Bourne Supremacy.” “It was really good, I didn’t even nod off and I’m usually bad about that. A movie has to be really good to keep my attention.” When traveling, he enjoys places like Key West or Miami.
