The Fourth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission sent six names to Gov. Rick Scott to consider for the open seat on the Duval County bench created by the appointment of Judge Tyrie Boyer to the Circuit bench.
Following interviews of 15 candidates by the judicial nominating commission, a list of a maximum of six candidates was sent to the governor for his consideration.
The candidates are Marianne Aho of MarksGray; Suzanne Bass of The Law Offices of Suzanne Bass; Assistant Public Defender for the Eighth Circuit Alan Chipperfield; Katie Dearing of Liles, Gavin, Costantino, George & Dearing; Andrew Kantor of Brennan, Manna & Diamond; and Scott Mitchell of Scott Mitchell P.A.
The governor has 60 days to review the list and make a selection to fill the seat that will be vacated by Boyer at the end of the year. Boyer was appointed by Scott to fill a seat on the Circuit bench that will be vacated when Judge Haldane Taylor retires at the end of the year.
The judicial nominating commission consists of Chairman Wayne Alford of the Alford Law Group; Vice Chairman Richard Alexander of the Alexander Law Practice; Chip Bachara of the Bachara Construction Law Group; Dexter Van Davis of the Davis Law Group; Deno Hicks of Southern Strategy Group; Melissa Williamson Nelson of McGuireWoods; Robert O’Quinn of Cole, Scott & Kissane; and William Prichard of Moseley Prichard.
