Jacksonville-based Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores, launched a community donation program in its stores to raise money for the American Red Cross.

The collections are being taken in the wake of Hurricane Dorian’s effect on the Bahamas and the east coast of Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.

Money raised throughout Southeast Bi-Lo, Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief program to help people recover from natural disasters by providing food, shelter, counseling and other needed assistance.

Donations are accepted at North Florida-area Winn-Dixie stores and Harveys Supermarket locations. Stores will open at regular hours Thursday.

Check Winn-Dixie.com for store hours.
