The first forum is scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. at New York Slice, 2525 N. Main St. John Peyton will be the featured candidate.

“Both the residential and business sections of Springfield are undergoing dramatic changes,” said SBA president Rick Uhrie. “The Business Association is but a microcosm of those changes.”

Each candidate will receive a list of questions. They will be asked the first three questions at the meeting. Written responses are requested for the other questions.

Topics to be discussed include, how does the overall growth of the city affect Springfield?; what impact does Springfield have on the city — its preservation of Jacksonville’s history and the viability of its downtown?; and what is your stand on small business?

Uhrie said the goal of the SBA is to “make a difference” in the community, adding members of the group are concerned about the upcoming mayoral race and how it will impact projects in Springfield.

The purpose of the SBA is to encourage, foster and enhance economic growth in Springfield and promote a better business environment. The group meets the second Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. at a member business location. anyone interested in the commercial development of Springfield is invited to participate.
