Michael Kelly, president and chief operating officer of the Super Bowl Host Committee, spoke to the Jacksonville chapter of the Federal Bar Association Tuesday at the Omni, providing members with an update on the 2005 game.

“The game is the signature event, but tickets are hard to come by,” said Kelly. “So many events will take place around it. This goes way beyond what Jacksonville is capable of handling alone. This game requires a lot of regional cooperation.”

Kelly said as the game draws closer, the intensity levels are increasing.

“Things are starting to pick up since we hit the 18-month mark,” said Kelly. “We will formally start the recruitment process [for volunteers] the day after the Houston Super Bowl next year. The first half of that year we’ll finish that. The next summer and fall we’ll go through an essential training process. November and December we’ll fine tune our schedule.”
