Minneapolis-based Target is requesting a permit for $5.2 million in renovations to its OakLeaf SuperTarget at 9525 Crosshill Blvd. as Hobby Lobby builds-out a new store next to it.

Target proposes to renovate 45,541 square feet of the 180,561-square-foot store, which it built in 2007 and owns.

Work includes exterior signage and updates; and interior upgrades to the sales floor, restrooms, fitting rooms, guest services area, offices, the stockroom, grocery finishes that include cooler and freezer additions, and fixture and finish updates to Starbucks, and flooring, wall and ceiling finishes and replacement in the optical department.

The architect is James A. Lastovica Architect of Rogers, Arkansas.

The review comes after the city issued a permit Oct. 26 for the almost $1.87 million renovation of space for Hobby Lobby at 9515 Crosshill Blvd., No. 10.

Oklahoma City-based Hobby Lobby will lease about 53,000 square of space comprising three existing tenant spaces and an expansion between SuperTarget and PetSmart.

The landlord is Katz Properties LLC of New York City.

The three tenant spaces were AC Moore, OfficeMax and Lifeway, whose previous store is being expanded by 8,345 square feet to complete a rectangular space for Hobby Lobby.

The city issued a permit Sept. 28 for Snyder General Construction Inc. to buil

he 8,345-square-foot addition at a project cost of $800,000 to create a space large enough for the area’s fifth Hobby Lobby store.

OakLeaf Town Center is in Southwest Jacksonville at northwest Argyle Forest Boulevard and Old Middleburg Road.

Other anchors include Kohl’s, The Home Depot and Ross Dress for Less.

Hobby Lobby has three Jacksonville stores in Mandarin, North Jacksonville and the Town Center area. It also has one in St. Augustine.
