Sysco International Food Group will make an investment of almost $11.1 million to renovate a Northwest Jacksonville warehouse to accommodate an expansion.
Primus Builders Inc. of Woodstock, Ga., is shown as the contractor for the project at 3100 Hilton St.
The city is reviewing a building-permit application for the project, which is described as a renovation and expansion of an existing facility, including the freezer, cold dock, dry warehouse, dry dock, office and related site improvements.
Sysco Corp.'s International Food Group is based in Plant City.
As the Daily Record reported Oct. 31, Sysco Corp. will renovate the warehouse to accommodate an expansion of its International Food Group exports operation, a move expected to create 60 jobs by early summer.
The city already approved a permit in October for Primus Builders Inc. to perform interior demolition of the 195,000-square-foot building at a cost of $325,000.
Charley Wilson, vice president of corporate communications, said in October the International Food Group distributes and exports products to Sysco customers outside the United States.
Houston-based Sysco has two distribution centers in Jacksonville – the new International Food Group center and its food-service operation at 1501 Lewis Industrial Drive, which is 3 miles southwest. Together, the two are expected to have more than 300 jobs in Jacksonville.
Sysco operates 193 locations in the U.S., Bahamas, Canada, Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The sysco.com website says the company has grown to $44 billion in sales and serves about 425,000 customers in the foodservice industry, delivering food and food-related products to restaurants, health care and educational facilities, lodging establishments and other customers who prepare meals away from home.
Products include equipment and supplies for the foodservice and hospitality industries.
The Palazzo on St. Johns preparing for sales
The sales center for The Palazzo on St. Johns, formerly known as The Cove at St. Johns, opened Monday at 3958 Baymeadows Road.
Developers said the gated community of up to 86 units will offer floor plans ranging from 2,000 to 3,400 heated square feet and should be ready for move-in in March. Prices for three-bedroom plans start about $400,000, three-bedroom plans with a study start about $500,000 and there will be penthouses that start about $800,000.
Developers said residents will have access to a private boardwalk and marina featuring a dock with boat slips, a kayak launch and an outdoor recreation area. There will be a pool, a waterfront recreational area with an outdoor kitchen, as well as an electric vehicle charging station and a fitness center.
The Marketing Directors firm will lead sales efforts.

Prospect Cove Development LLC is the project owner.
Developers of the unfinished condominiums recently filed plans to restart the project, which had been taken over by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp in 2009. Prospect Cove Development bought it this summer.
Sales center hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
Kernan medical clinic OK'd for construction
The city approved a $5.3 million project to build the Memorial Emergency Center – Atlantic, referred to on plans as the "Kernan Medical Clinic."
Modular Space Corp. is the contractor for the 9,878-square-foot medical clinic at 11850 Atlantic Blvd.
Memorial Hospital plans to open the full-service ER with a dedicated pediatrics area in the spring at southwest Atlantic and Kernan boulevards.
It will be the second area free-standing emergency center for Memorial Hospital, part of Nashville-based HCA Inc. The first was Memorial Emergency Center – Julington Creek.
Dollar Tree, Oakleaf retail approved
The City also approved construction for an almost 10,000-square-foot Dollar Tree at 10827 Harts Road. Termac Construction Inc. is the contractor for the $450,000 project.
It also approved construction for the Retail Strategies LLC retail center shell at 9660 Argyle Forest Blvd. TICON Inc. is the contractor for the 8,500-square-foot structure at a project cost of $350,000.
Significant signs
Monument signs were approved for a housing development, a Downtown church and an architectural salvage company.
Brown Enterprises was approved to put up two monument signs for the Basilica of The Immaculate Conception at 121 E. Duval St. Downtown.
Maier Development Solutions LLC was OK'd to put one up for Mill Creek at Kendall Town Center in Arlington's Regency area at 1111 Ballard Ridge Road.
And Harbinger will put up three wall signs for Eco Relics Architectural Salvage Building Materials & Tools at 106 Stockton St., just west of Downtown.
