Trailer Bridge Inc. is exploring development of a 121,875-square-foot industrial warehouse on 9.21 acres along New Berlin Road next to the company’s property in North Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville-based logistics company said it is in the “very” preliminary stages of the project.

“At this time there is nothing more to add about this project,” said Director of Marketing Whitney Croxton on Nov. 8.

Civil engineering firm BGE Inc. applied to city utility JEA to determine the availability of service for the project as described, although it was labeled along “Old Berlin Road.”

The real estate property number and preliminary site plan show it is along New Berlin Road.

A description shows that there would be 36 loading bays.

Trailer Bridge owns the undeveloped project site next to its almost 17.3-acre headquarters at 10405 New Berlin Road.

The company has an almost 20,000-square-foot office building and 14,000-square-foot garage and repair building there, along with trailer storage.

The land is east of New Berlin Road, which is adjacent to Interstate 295.

Trailer Bridge is a full-service transportation company. It announced Nov. 3 it was adding a director of intermodal as part of the expansion of its logistics division.

It said the addition is part of the company’s five-year plan to be a full-service logistics provider for brands around the globe.

TrailerBridge.com says industry pioneer Malcom McLean founded the company in 1991 to serve the Caribbean market and has expanded.

Trailer Bridge said it recently added an international division focused on handling the movement of freight around the world as well as teams focused on less-than-truckload freight and government cargo.

It says the company continues to offer weekly ocean service to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean for containerized, roll-on/roll-off, and oversized freight.

Houston-based BGE launched its Jacksonville office in August. BGE provides project management, land development, due diligence, and site design and permitting.
