CSX Transportation recently presented a check for $10,000 in support of Undersheriff Frank Mackesy to representatives of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation North Florida Chapter, the beneficiary of this year’s local Dancing with the Stars competition. One-hundred percent of this contribution will go toward further funding research of type 1 diabetes and its complications, while also making CSX Transportation a presenting sponsor of the competition and adding major votes in the ballot box for Mackesy and his professional ballroom dance partner, Megan Wallace.

The event is set for Nov. 7 at Boleros DanceSport Center.

Joining Mackesy are: Patty Crosby and Michelle Jacobs of Ch. 12/25; Barbara Miller, JDRF board member, CSX Transportation; Megan O’Kelley, Miss River City Jacksonville 2009; Phillip Cable, Weight Watchers, International; Theresa Smith, Jacksonville Jaguars and chair of the Clay County Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Jose Atilio Canas, Pediatric Endocrinologist at Nemours Children’s Hospital; and Jessica Hurckes, former cheerleader with the Jacksonville Jaguars Roar.

Individual tickets for the event are $100 and include dinner provided by Carrabba’s Italian Grill, music from A Class Act band, dessert bar from Three Layers A Coffee House, a complimentary drink, dancing throughout the evening and a chance to vote for celebrities. Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.asocialaffair.net/DWTS/index.html where people can also buy votes for their favorite celebrity for $1 or more donation to JDRF.
