The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs bought 21.06 acres for $8,424,000 in North Jacksonville for an outpatient clinic that was announced in September.

Jacksonville VA OPC LLC bought the land from Second Time Signature LLP and Duval/Owens Signature LLP, both led by Stephen Leggett, on Dec. 22. The deed was recorded Dec. 30 with the Duval County Clerk of Courts.

The VA plans to construct a 164,054-square-foot clinic on the property at northwest Hyatt Road and Max Leggett Parkway.

The North Jacksonville clinic will provide primary care, mental health, radiology, optometry and audiology services. Multispecialty rooms will offer women’s health, telehealth and other specialties.

It also will include a 30-bed domiciliary residential care space. The clinic and domiciliary will be connected via a covered walkway.

The clinic will replace the Jacksonville VA Southpoint clinic at 6900 Southpoint Drive N. and the Jacksonville VA University clinic at 3901 Memorial Health Plaza in Southside.

The Jacksonville 1 VA Clinic at 1536 N. Jefferson St. in Springfield will remain open. That clinic offers a wider range of services including dental, surgical, psychiatric, nursing, ancillary services, chronic illness treatment and urgent care.

The VA Choice and Quality Employment Act of 2017 authorized construction of the North Jacksonville clinic. According to the legislation signed by President Donald Trump, the cost cannot exceed $18,623,000.
