Weinstein raises $146,030

Mayoral candidate Mike Weinstein, in his first campaign finance report filed Wednesday with the Duval County Supervisor of Elections office, raised $146,030 from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2001 from 356 contributors in amounts ranging from $10 to $500 (the maximum amount an individual or company can donate to a candidate per election cycle).

Campaign finance reports are due quarterly. Fourth quarter 2001 reports are due at the Supervisor of Elections office or postmarked by 5 p.m. today.

Weinstein’s contributors include former mayor Ed Austin, former Speaker of the House John Thrasher, Dr. Chester Aikens, Jack Shorstein, Pam Paul, Russell Newton, Sandy Zimmerman, Wayne and Delores Weaver, Lewis Siplin, Rev. John Guns, Rev. Moses Javis, Rev. Tom Diamond and business leaders W.W. Gay, Buck Autrey, Tom Petway and Carter Bryan.

Weinstein announced his candidacy for mayor Sept. 18. City Council members Ginger Soud and Alberta Hipps and Gate executive John Peyton have also announced their candidacy.
