Williams-Sonoma distribution center approved at Perimeter West Industrial Park

The San Francisco-based cookware and home furnishings brands, with about 550 stores, is hiring warehouse, office and call center jobs for the Jacksonville operation.

Lifestyle cookware and home furnishing brand Williams-Sonoma Inc. is hiring for a Northwest Jacksonville distribution and customer care center that the city approved for build-out Dec. 2.

FCL Builders of Itasca, Illinois, will renovate a 168,000-square-foot shell building at 4259 Perimeter Industrial Parkway W. in the Perimeter West Industrial Park at a project cost of $1.13 million.

Perimeter West is at northeast Interstate 295 and Pritchard Road. Pieper O’Brien Herr of Alpharetta, Georgia, is the architect. 

San Francisco-based Williams-Sonoma Inc., founded in 1956 by Chuck Williams, has 547 stores worldwide as of Oct. 31 and an e-commerce site.

Its brands include Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, PBteen, West Elm, Williams-Sonoma Home, Rejuvenation, and Mark and Graham. Pottery Barn operates at St. Johns Town Center, but Williams Sonoma and West Elm closed there.

Williams-Sonoma spokespeople did not respond to an email over the weekend.

Seeking employees

Job postings show Williams-Sonoma is seeking workers in Jacksonville including an operations manager, customer service coordinators and general warehouse positions. 

“The Williams-Sonoma Distribution Center in Jacksonville, FL is hiring for all warehouse roles! Your career is waiting at Williams-Sonoma Full-Time 1st Shift Opportunities Warehouse Lead Forklift Drivers Clerks & Admins Customer Service I & II Furniture Repair Tech Material Handlers,” says a posting.

It says it employs thousands in its regional distribution operations and in more than 600 retail stores, customer care centers and corporate headquarters. 

Williams-Sonoma says in a posting for operations manager that its distribution centers “serve as vital connections between factories and our retail, online and mail-order customers around the world.”

Full- and part-time general warehouse associates are offered benefits that may include medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, three weeks’ vacation pay, personal time off, sick pay, 401(k) savings plan, life insurance, employee discounts, and more. 

Other benefits can include life insurance, wellness programs, employee assistance resources, biometrics and flu shots. 

“If you have experience working in a warehouse, office or call center environment, check out the variety of full-time positions we have at our new Jacksonville Distribution Center. We offer a variety of shifts depending on position, competitive pay rates, and great benefits.”

The customer service coordinator responsibilities include scheduling functions for Williams-Sonoma Inc. in-home delivery, handling outbound/inbound calls related to customer orders for all brands, confirming customer delivery windows within the system as well as customer contacts and the ability to handle a large call volume of at least 130 calls daily and scheduling at least 45 customer orders daily.

“Our Distribution Centers serve as vital connections between factories and our retail, online and mail-order customers around the world. The Supply Chain environment is dynamic and fast-paced, and the network is expanding rapidly,” a job posting says.

“If you have a background in distribution, manufacturing, engineering, transportation, finance, human resources or home delivery – and are looking for a job with a strong opportunity for gaining new skills and for advancement – our Supply Chain Organization is just the place for you.”

Network of centers

Williams-Sonoma has five distribution centers in California, Mississippi, New Jersey, Tennessee, Dallas and in Braselton, Georgia, north of Atlanta.

Its lists 12 distribution hubs and six customer service centers,

The Braselton location is listed as all three.

Williams-Sonoma also has factories.

Rooker Co. of Atlanta is the Perimeter West landlord. JLL Senior Managing Director Luke Pope represented Rooker in the lease.

Principal and President J.R. Richardson and director Rich Antczak with Newmark Phoenix Realty Group and Brian Knowles, a founding principal of Lee & Associates of Eastern Pennsylvania LLC, represented Williams-Sonoma.

The city issued a permit Jan. 14 for Rooker to build the 168,000-square-foot Perimeter West Building Two speculative shell warehouse.

FCL Builders was the contractor for the $6.98 million structure on about 10.48 acres. Pieper O’Brien Herr was the architect.

Rooker Vice President Cason Bufe said Nov. 9, 2021, that the building was scheduled for completion in summer 2022. 

RP Perimeter West Two LLC is the developer of the structure. Almond Engineering is the civil engineering firm. 

Rooker is a full-service real estate development firm.
