January and February have proven to be an exciting beginning to the new year. We’ve had lots of “news”! The St. Augustine Regional Chapter has a new home for our meetings. All future meetings will be held at the Fairways Grill at the Ponce de Leon Golf and Country Club. The atmosphere is inviting and the food is terrific. They bent over backwards to accommodate over 50 members at the last meeting. My personal thanks to Deb Brunner, our Programs Chairperson, for finding such a terrific spot and James McKee, the restaurant supervisor, for a job well done. In February we announced our WCR Realtor® Member of the Year and Affiliate Member of the Year. Our congratulations to Mary Hepler, Estate Title and Guaranty, for receiving Affiliate Member of the Year Award for 2001 and Murrell Weissinger, St. Johns Realty Group, for her 2nd Realtor® Member of the Year Award. Both of them worked long and hard for the organization providing leadership in fundraising activities and publicity. I am so proud they are part of the 2002 Governing Board this year and play an active role in our WCR TEAM. Our “STAR” producers were honored at the March 2nd SunTrust Bank 2002 Night of WCR Stars. Each and every member of our WCR Chapter is a STAR! Induction of new members into WCR took place at the General Membership meeting on March 4th.The Brick by Brick membership campaign has been very successful so far and we look forward to adding more new members in March. We are also mourning the loss of Nancy Yeomans Jones, a WCR member since 2000 who passed away on February 19. Nancy will be missed by her colleagues at Olde Carriage Realty and her WCR family. Many thanks to our Affiliate Sponsors for 2002. So far we have had Bank of America, ICI Homes, Scott & Sheppard, P.A. and SunTrust Bank will do the March meeting. Anyone wishing to attend a meeting, please contact Murrell Weissinger, V.P. Membership or Deb Brunner, Programs Chair. Our April 1st meeting will be very informative. Pam Smith, Prearrangement Counselor for Craig Funeral Home, will be speaking about the sensitive topic of Pre-Need Planning. Let’s not put off until tomorrow....it will be here sooner than we think! Until next month, keep good thoughts.
