In my last article, I asked you to consider whether YLS should step beyond its historical “sweat equity” role with HabiJax. Although I received only a handful of calls, the responses were extremely positive and gave a strong indication that YLS members are committed to assist with both the funding and volunteer efforts required to undertake full sponsorship of a HabiJax house in the Spring 2002 campaign. At our YLS Board meeting last week, we passed a resolution to move forward with the project and to commence our fund raising efforts. We have already received a commitment of $500 from the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, and I intend to seek additional funding from the ABA. In addition, the ten YLS Board members have each agreed to raise at least $300 and to solicit five or more volunteers to help us with the physical labor. If and when they contact you, please consider helping us with this very worthwhile project. If you don’t hear from us and would like to participate, please call me (359-3485) or send me an e-mail [email protected] . We are very excited about our new role with HabiJax and look forward to working with you.

Finally, kudos to YLS member David Wainer who “got his name on the door”. David practices with Campbell Ford and Mark Miller.
