The Northeast Florida Builders Association recognized Donna VanPuymbrouck for her contribution to Micah’s Place at the monthly meeting of the Nassau Builders Council. NEFBA President Greg Matovina presented the NEFBA Member of the Month award for her commitment of time and resources to building a shelter for victims of domestic violence in Nassau County.

Before the Micah’s Place shelter was constructed, victims of domestic violence in Nassau County often were referred to shelters in other counties, primarily Duval County.

“That was not a practical solution,” said Marilyn Evans-Jones, Micah’s Place past president. “It often involved taking children out of school and removing a parent from a place of employment. When we opened the doors to Micah’s Place in January, it was a dream come true, thanks to the help of people like Donna.”

The 14-bed shelter provides a safe haven for Nassau County residents who suffer at the hands of loved ones.

VanPuymbrouck is a builder and owner of Donna Lynne Custom Homes and the immediate past chair of the Nassau Builders Council.
