Demolition deadline extended by 2 months.
The former Duval County Courthouse on East Bay Street is slowly being demolished, but the nearly 60-year-old building isn't giving up easily.
Its removal was originally scheduled to be complete by June 1, but the contractor has asked the city for a two-month extension on the deadline to Aug. 1.
Also, the windows on the Blackstone Building that were broken Jan. 20 when the former City Hall across the street was imploded have not been replaced.
Glass panes that would match the original windows that were installed when the building opened in 1974 cannot be obtained, so the latest plan is to replace all the windows on the south side of the building.
