V Pizza, previously referred to on building plans and permits as Veloce Pizzeria Napoletana, intends to open late this month at 1406 Hendricks Ave. in San Marco, the first of several locations it plans in Florida.

A second location, in the general Beaches area east of Hodges Boulevard, is expected to open next year.

According to a news release, the San Marco restaurant will be led by chef and “pizzaioli” Angelo Bondi and Jacksonville restaurateur Rudy Theale.

The restaurant represents an investment of about $800,000.

V Pizza will operate 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

It will seat up to 115 patrons, with parking available behind the restaurant. Menu prices will range from $5 to $22.

Bubba burgers go global

Bubba burgers are on an international tour.

Marketing Vice President Andy Stenson said four Bubba staff members will be serving more than 1,000 burgers today in Naples, Italy, to the Naval Support group before a concert by country music artist Jason Michael Carroll.

Bubba associates also will pass out T-shirts, stickers, coupons and other items

Stenson, who is on the trip, said Bubba associates will meet with a group of Medal of Honor recipients over the weekend.

He calls it “a goodwill trip for the troops.”

Stenson has been posting about the trip on Facebook.

Bubba Foods is based in Jacksonville and are sold throughout the United States and in Canada as well as worldwide through the U.S. Military Commissary system.
