Rogers Towers shareholder Wyman Duggan filed Tuesday to run for state House of Representatives District 15, according to a news release from political consultant Tim Baker.
He was endorsed Tuesday afternoon by Mayor Lenny Curry, who described Duggan as “a true conservative.”
Duggan, a Republican, did not return phone calls for comment.
The seat is being vacated by state Rep. Jay Fant, who was elected to the House in 2014 and re-elected in 2016. He is seeking the office of state attorney general.
Duggan, who specializes in land use, zoning, development and state legislative matters, is a member of the law firm’s board of directors and former chair of its Governmental and Regulatory Law Department.
He was chair of the city’s 2009-10 Charter Revision Commission and vice chair of the Task Force on Consolidated Government in 2013.
Duggan also has served as chair of the Commercial/Industrial Task Force of the JAX Chamber and as board president of the commercial real estate development association NAIOP of Northeast Florida.
A fourth-generation Jacksonville resident, Duggan received his undergraduate degree from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and his law degree from William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He is a graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Office Candidate School and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps Reserve.
