Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Kelvin Beachum hosted a screening Tuesday night of “Hidden Figures” for 130 students.
The event was part of Beachum’s “Kelvin Konnects” initiative to increase minority access to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The film is about three African-American women who were among the mathematical geniuses who helped NASA launch men into space in the 1960s.
The movie was followed by a discussion featuring panelists from Microsoft, Scratchwork LLC, the Jaguars and the Motion Picture Association of America.
Crescimbeni hires council assistant after eight years
For the past eight years, City Council member John Crescimbeni chose not to hire an executive assistant.
That left him as the sole person returning calls, scheduling meetings, responding to emails and other duties usually handled by an assistant.
But, Crescimbeni said, the additional tasks tied to serving as vice president since July 1 are more than he can handle on his own. Over the past six months, the 40- to 50-hour weeks are now more than 60 hours.
And, he said, “If I am fortunate enough to become council president this year, I realize there is no way I can do that by myself.”
His assistant is Nicole Evans, who started Monday. Her new job at City Hall is just a short walk across the street from the Main Library, where she formerly worked.
Crescimbeni estimated he saved taxpayers more than $560,000 by not hiring an assistant in the previous eight years.
Jumbo Shrimp make staff moves off the field
The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp added four members to its front office staff.
• Taylor Boyle is a new account executive who previously worked for the Winston-Salem Dash and the Jacksonville Armada FC, according to a news release.
• Teresa Lively-Hall is accounting manager for the team. She has 15 years’ experience, most recently with a nonprofit hospital in Mississippi.
• David Ratz, an Atlanta native, is promotions and special events manager. He has 13 years’ experience in radio promotions and events, producing events ranging from concerts to golf tournaments.
• Eric Turner is a corporate partnership account executive after two years with the Armada. He previously worked with mentally challenged children and adults.
Two current employees were given new roles, the release said.
Peter Ercey, in his second year with the team, is box office manager after serving as an account executive.
Theresa Viets is military liaison and account executive after serving as box office manager. She has been with the team for 11 seasons.
The season opener is April 6.
Leadership Jacksonville looking for Class of 2018 members
Leadership Jacksonville is accepting applications for the Class of 2018.
CEO Jill Langford Dame said the adult leadership program has been one of the organization’s signature programs since 1977.
“Our graduates, who are already outstanding leaders, develop a better understanding of our area’s assets and issues and increase their commitment to make a positive difference in Northeast Florida,” Dame said in a news release. “They often refer to their time in the … program as ‘life-changing.’”
Applicants for the yearlong program must complete an online application at leadershipjax.org through Jan. 24.
The class will begin in August and continue through May 2018.
The agenda includes nine program days and two weekend retreats.

Wolff and Roman are guests for ‘Brahms and Beyond’
Renowned conductor Hugh Wolff will conduct the Jacksonville Symphony for “Brahms and Beyond,” which also will feature guest artist Joshua Roman on the cello.
Wolff has been named next music director of the Orchestre National de Belgique. He was principal conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra from 1997-2006, then served as principal conductor and music director of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
Roman started his career at age 22 as principal cellist of the Seattle Symphony. He began a residency last year with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.
Performances are 8 p.m. Jan. 20-21 and 3 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts.

Client Focused Media hires Mayer as account manager
Fallon Mayer joined Client Focused Media as an account manager.
She received a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and multimedia journalism from the University of North Florida.
Mayer most recently worked for The Florida Times-Union, where she was an e-commerce representative for localbuy.com and a sales representative and managing editor for Eco Latino Magazine.
Mizrahi comes ‘home’ to River Garden Hebrew Home
Mauri Mizrahi has been hired as an assistant administrator for River Garden Hebrew Home, a 180-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.
She is a physical therapist and a board-certified geriatric clinical specialist.
Mizrahi has had a long association with the facility, according to a news release.
“Coming back to work at River Garden is like coming home,” she said.
Mizrahi and her husband, Alan, have three sons.
Zeitz to manage HomeBridge Financial Services local branch
Jamie Zeitz has been promoted to manager of HomeBridge Financial Services’ Jacksonville branch.
He also will be responsible for recruitment in his new role.
Zeitz has been recognized by Mortgage Executive Magazine as one of the top 1 percent of loan originators in the mortgage industry, according to a news release.
He is a member of the Sales and Marketing Council with the Northeast Florida Builders Association, the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors and Florida Association of Mortgage Professionals.
“In addition to his entrepreneurial spirit and drive, he takes a personal approach that matches HomeBridge’s vision for how lenders should operate in every aspect of the mortgage industry,” Chris Wasinger, regional vice president, said of Zeitz.
King is new chief financial officer for Orange Park Medical Center
Heath King has joined Orange Park Medical Center as chief financial officer.
King has been with Hospital Corporation of America for 14 years, where he most recently served as CFO with the Coliseum Health System in Macon, Ga., according to a news release.
He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and an MBA from Shorter College.
He and his wife, Jill, have two children.
Wilson is communications director for Episcopal Diocese of Florida
The Episcopal Diocese of Florida hired Sandy Wilson as communications director.
Wilson will lead internal and external communication strategies for the diocese, according to a news release.
She has more than two decades of communications and marketing experience.
She is a Leadership Jacksonville alumna and a former president and board member of the International Association of Business Communicators Jacksonville.
