Miami Grill plans up to five restaurants in the Jacksonville area, but hasn’t confirmed its second location.

Store leaders visited its first store last week for its Saturday grand opening at 9575 Regency Square Blvd. N.

Visiting were Mario Cordovez, Miami Grill franchisee; Steven Klass, executive vice president; Jonathan Vogel, chief operating officer; Jackie Maceda, marketing director; and Nancy Rehm, senior graphic designer.

Vogel said the company will consider second-generation space at former fast-food restaurants as well as land to build.

The drive-thru business is important, Vogel said. The franchise development vice president said in October that 50 percent of Miami Grill’s business comes through the drive-thru window.

Miami Subs left the market, where it had six locations, in the early 2000s and returns with some ownership changes and the name Miami Grill. The first Jacksonville store opened Oct 9.
