Wildlight LLC filed plans with the St. Johns River Water Management District for the proposed University of Florida health and fitness facilities at Wildlight, the master-planned community in Nassau County.
Wildlight developer Raydient Places + Properties and UF want to build two medical office buildings and parking on 6.38 acres at Florida A1A and William Burgess Boulevard in Yulee.
Raydient and UF said in August they wanted to break ground next year.
Plans show a 23,331-square-foot medical office building and a future 5,888-square-foot building. GAI Consultants of Jacksonville is the agent.
Wildlight LLC is the applicant. Wildlight is being created by Raydient, Rayonier Inc.’s real estate subsidiary.
Wildlight is a 2,900-acre development approved for 7 million square feet of office, commercial, medical, industrial and residential uses.
It is expected to include 3,200 residential units.
Rayonier moved its headquarters to Wildlight from Downtown Jacksonville.
Raydient and UF announced in August they would develop a national model for healthier communities at Wildlight.
UF and its academic health center, UF Health, will build health and fitness facilities in Wildlight and design programs to promote healthier living in the community and Northeast Florida.
Rayonier envisions Wildlight as a new town that it calls “Florida Lowcountry.”
It calls for homes, townhomes and rental apartments along with shops, restaurants, parks, gardens, playgrounds, a new elementary school that opened and a trail and pathway system to connect it.
The first phase is designed for about 1,000 homes on about 260 acres with about 350 acres of preserved land.
Wildlight Elementary School, part of the Nassau County School District, opened in August.
Wildlight named D.S. Ware Homes and Dream Finders Homes the first residential homebuilders in the community.
UF and UF Health said the first step in its multiyear project is to build the community’s first health care facility on Florida A1A to include urgent care staffed by emergency medicine faculty, primary care and an imaging center.
Initially, it will include faculty physicians in adult primary care and pediatrics.
It might add medical specialists in obstetrics, sports medicine, dentistry, orthopaedics and occupational and speech therapy, depending on community needs.
Also planned are a fitness and lifestyle campus and services focused on early childhood development, sports injury prevention, smart parks and community nutrition.
UF Health’s main campuses are at UF in Gainesville and in Jacksonville. UF Health operates hospitals and medical centers in Jacksonville’s Springfield area and in North Jacksonville near River City Marketplace.
Those are UF Health Jacksonville and UF Health North.
UF Health also offers a network of outpatient rehabilitation centers, two home health agencies in Gainesville and Jacksonville and more than 100 UF physician outpatient practices in Northeast and North Central Florida.
