The Florida Theatre named its lobby The Players Promenade in honor of The Players Championship becoming a corporate partner.

Florida Theatre President Numa Saisselin said the team members “look forward to strengthening the connections between Downtown and the beaches communities.”

The Florida Theatre, 128 E Forsyth St., opened in 1927 and was founded as a nonprofit in 1987.

Florida Theatre ranks No. 6: The Florida Theatre attendance ranked sixth in the U.S. for theaters with fewer than 2,000 seats, according to Pollstar, a concert industry publication.  Pollstar said the theater’s attendance of  134,053 in 2018 ranked 56th among the top 100 theatres worldwide.

Crew awarded: The crew of the Crowley Maritime Corp.-managed SS Wright, a U.S. Maritime Administration Ready Reserve Force ship, was awarded Merchant Marine medals for outstanding achievement for their efforts after Hurricane Maria. The crew provided humanitarian aid to the U.S. Virgin Islands, transporting supplies, equipment and emergency responders.
