The Hourglass Pub & Coffee House at 345. E Bay St. Downtown is scheduled to close Feb. 3 but the space won’t be vacant for long.

Charles Mann with Liberty Bay Inc., which owns the property, said new tenant John Ferra will open a bar.

Ferra said Thursday he will begin minor renovations once the Pub shuts down.

He said he hasn’t settled on a new name, but the bar will continue to serve beer and wine while he applies for a liquor license in the next few months.

“We want to see what type of crowd comes in there and based on their wants, and our own vision, the bar will evolve from there,” he said.

Ferra said he envisions developing it into more of a lounge space focused on wine and spirits. No opening date has been set.

Hourglass Pub owner Shannon Widow announced Monday she was closing the bar to focus on family and health.
