The city is reviewing site plans for Gator’s Dockside Group Inc. to build a 7,400-square-foot restaurant on 1.25 acres at 8396 Merchants Way near Argyle Forest Boulevard.

RCE Consultants LLC of Altamonte Springs is the consultant. Plans show a 240-seat restaurant.

Site demolition for Edley’s Bar-B-Q

The city approved demolition of a building at 5344 Ortega Blvd. where Edley’s Bar-B-Q intends to build. First Coast Energy owns the 3,137-square-foot former gas station.

Nashville restaurant Edley’s Bar-B-Que announced in September it chose Jacksonville for its first Florida location and would transform a former gas station into restaurant space in the historic Ortega neighborhood, but the owners now plan to build a new structure.

Virginia and Todd Ogletree will own Edley’s Bar-B-Que in Jacksonville. Lara Bahri and Oliver Barakat, CBRE senior vice president, represented the Ogletrees. The landlord is First Coast Energy.

Food notes

• Bonchon was approved for interior work in The Strand at Town Center at 4972 Town Center Parkway, No. 300.

Fudin Construction LLC is the contractor for the $125,200 project of 2,327 square feet. The chain specializes in Korean-style fried-chicken.

“Bonchon” is Korean for “my hometown” and refers to the company’s roots in Busan, South Korea.

It is based in New York City. Its website says that along with fried chicken, it serves Asian fusion dishes and Korean specialties.

• Olive Garden will remodel at 10144 Philips Highway.

The city issued the permit for Haley Construction Inc. to make exterior and interior improvements, including refurbishment of the existing bar, lobby and dining areas.

It’s a $350,000 project that includes new finishes, carpet, ceiling materials, window coverings, furniture and cabinetry.

It also refers to new painting and a new entry tower feature.

• Starbucks is renovating its River City Marketplace coffee shop at 780 Nautica Drive. RDT Construction Group Inc. is handling the $225,000 project to remodel the 1,816-square-foot store.
