Community First Credit Union opened its Fleming Island branch in Island Walk North at 2004 E. West Parkway.
The branch replaces the former retail location at 1545 County Road 220.
Community First owns the outparcel on which its new free-standing branch was built.
The new location is part of the credit union’s “branch transformation project” to upgrade and update its facilities.
According to a news release, Community First has more than 5,000 members in Fleming Island who use the branch for their regular banking.
“This location provides convenience and an enhanced experience in modern, in-person banking,” said John Hirabayashi, CEO and president of Community First, in the news release.
Construction of the 3,360-square-foot branch took about seven months. It has the same number of employees as the branch it replaced.
The interior design features a contemporary bright color scheme, furniture and finishes.
There also is a relaxation zone, interactive tablets, transaction counters without barriers, a digital community board and other technology-based features.
The branch includes full-service, self-service and assisted service options with interactive kiosks along with traditional teller service.
The building design includes a cylindrical glass tower, one of the credit union’s signature exterior features in its new branches.
The tower’s interior will serve as a community room available for use by local organizations and businesses.
Community First also has begun construction of a new branch at Oakleaf Plantation and the renovation of its Jacksonville Beach location.
