Aldi continues its expansion into Northeast Florida with a proposed grocery store at Parkway Shops in North Jacksonville.
The city issued a Concurrency Reservation Certificate for a 22,245-square-foot Aldi on 2.75 acres next to Hobby Lobby at 15324 Max Leggett Parkway.
RS&H is the engineering consultant and Ramco Parkway LLC is the property owner.
It is the 11th confirmed site in Northeast Florida for the Germany-based discount chain.
Aldi operates six discount stores in Duval and Clay counties and filed or indicated plans for five more, including its first in Nassau County.
The six open comprise three in Duval County, along Southside Boulevard, Normandy Boulevard and Town Center Parkway; two in Clay County; and one in St. Johns County.
The five to open comprise four in Mandarin, Regency, southwest Jacksonville and north Jacksonville in Duval County; and the first Aldi in Nassau County.
Area real estate director Jason Povlick said in the summer that several Aldi stores would open in the Jacksonville market over the next several years, but he did not want to be specific.
In the U.S. , the company operates more than 1,750 stores in 35 states.
