When an attorney has a case that’s headed for trial, the key to prevailing is preparation.
The Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association took that same approach with the group’s inaugural entry into the annual Jacksonville Bar Association Member Golf Tournament.
When the scorecards were tallied Thursday at Deerwood Golf & Country Club, the group’s two foursomes accepted the trophies for first place in the women’s division.
The team of Katie Borello, Patricia Dodson Lauren Johnston and Randall Richardson, husband of JWLA President Jennifer Richardson and a fully vested member of the association, turned in a 64 to win the net score title.
First place gross score, 80 strokes, was carded by the team of Kayla Haines, Francine Palmeri, Lynne Rhode and Cyndy Trimmer.
When the association decided to make its debut at the event, team members spent four weekends taking private group lessons at Blue Sky Golf Club and then competed against each other in an informal scramble to warm up for the tournament, said Jennifer Richardson.
Taking home trophies on the first try has inspired Team JWLA to head back to the practice range for more work on the fine points of the game.
“We definitely need to do this again next year,” Richardson said.
