Two buildings totaling about 12,000 square feet of retail space are planned on 2 acres near the Hyatt Place hotel along Town Center Parkway.

The Strand, across from St. Johns Town Center, is anchored by stores that include PGA Tour Superstore, 2nd & Charles, Best Buy and Hobby Lobby along with restaurants, many of them new to the city, and smaller retail shops.

The two new buildings appear to border the lakefront.

Developer Preferred Growth Properties, through PGP Jacksonville TC LLC, earned a Concurrency Reservation Certificate from the city for the two buildings – each 6,000 square feet.

Solid Rock Engineering Consultants Inc. is the civil engineer.

Preferred Growth Properties is the real estate subsidiary of Birmingham, Alabama-based Books-A-Million.

PGP Jacksonville TC LLC bought the property for The Strand and The Crossing, a shopping area next to it, in March 2016.

It bought 45 acres that can be developed and another 16.33 acres of lake and other undevelopable property.

The Strand was planned for more than 225,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space among several buildings and outparcels along Town Center Parkway.
