Jacksonville University intends to start construction this summer on the Jacksonville Lacrosse Center at its Arlington campus at 2800 University Blvd. N.

Completion is expected in the fall.

Jacksonville-based Stellar will build the center next to D.B. Milne Field at a construction cost of $1.875 million.

The 8,600-square-foot building will include 10 offices for coaches, assistants and staff; a conference room and film room; a women’s locker room, restrooms and shower facilities; and a men’s locker room, restrooms and shower facilities. Stellar teamed with PQH Group for the design.

JU said the center has been a primary focus for Athletic Director Alex Ricker-Gilbert since his appointment in May 2016.

Ricker-Gilbert hired John Galloway as head coach for the men’s program. Mindy McCord is the head coach of the women’s team.
