Jacksonville-based Pet Paradise Resorts LLC proposes to develop a location in Clay County at Old Jennings Road by the end of 2019.

The site is in Branan Field Village in Middleburg, which also serves the OakLeaf area.

The 14,264-square-foot boarding and day care kennel and a residential unit are planned on 1.64 acres.

Pet Paradise Resort offers full-service dog boarding, cat boarding, dog grooming services and pet day camp at its 35 locations in nine states.

Pet Paradise said its Clay County resort will be similar to its new facility in the Bartram area.
Pet Paradise said its Clay County resort will be similar to its new facility in the Bartram area.

Pet Paradise says it offers indoor and outdoor play areas and bone-shaped swimming pools. Specific amenities vary by pet resort.

Brian Franco, vice president of real estate for parent company American Pet Resort LLC, said the Clay County center will be similar to the Pet Paradise that opened recently in the Bartram area.

“We're hoping to break ground in early January at the latest,” he said, and open in the fourth quarter of 2019.

He expects the land sale to be completed in December.

Franco said with the First Coast Expressway connecting from Interstate 10 to Blanding Boulevard, the corridor is growing and there is no center like Pet Paradise serving the market.

Another Pet Paradise is planned on Fleming Island in Clay County, he said.
