VyStar Credit Union intends to start construction next year toward an early 2020 grand opening of a Lakewood branch.
The Jacksonville-based financial institution opened two locations this year in Gainesville Oaks and Orange City and two more are scheduled to open by year-end in Jacksonville’s San Marco neighborhood and in Deland.
VyStar operates 47 traditional branch locations along with 14 high school branches and more than 220 ATMs.
“We are continually exploring both organic growth options and Merger & Acquisition opportunities,” said VyStar President/CEO Brian Wolfburg in a statement.
“As part of our organic growth strategy we have a well-developed seven-year plan of locations that either infill current service areas or expand our market to reach more potential members within our Field of Membership, as approved by the Florida Office of Financial Regulation,” he said.
Wolfburg said VyStar continually acquires land to facilitate expansion, including the pending acquisition of the Lakewood property at 2890 University Blvd. W. near St. Augustine Road.
The St. Johns River Water Management District is reviewing plans for a 4,000-square-foot building on about 2 acres there. Prosser Inc. is the civil engineer.
