Miller Electric Co. is a step closer to relocating its Riverside headquarters to Southpoint now that the city issued a construction permit Wednesday for the renovations.
Perry-McCall Construction Inc. will build-out a 118,889-square-foot office-warehouse at 6805 Southpoint Drive at a job cost of $4.615 million, according to the permit.
Jacksonville-based Miller Electric will convert 65,000 square feet into office space and the remainder for warehouse and fabrication uses.
Miller Electric Chief Operating Officer Daniel Brown said the company anticipates moving around April.
Miller Electric CEO Henry Brown said previously about 200 employees will work at the new offices.
The company will lease the building, which was built in 1989.
Miller Electric will move from the seven buildings it now uses at 2251 Rosselle St.
Daniel Brown said the company is finalizing negotiations with a tenant.
The 1,500-employee company operates nationwide and primarily in the Southeast. It was established in 1928.
