Kevin Hyde, interim president of Florida State College at Jacksonville, said Friday he will not be a candidate to stay in the job.
The decision was made before a special FSCJ board meeting updating the presidential search.
Hyde, a Foley & Lardner partner, assumed the interim position May 31 after Cynthia Bioteau retired.
Hyde said he will stay on until a new president is in place and will help in the search. He also offered to help with the transition.
Hyde, an employment attorney, has a record of public service. He served two terms on City Council from 2003-11, including City Council president from 2005-06 council year.
He also served as chief administrative officer for Mayor Alvin Brown from July 2011 through August 2012. He later served as Brown’s counselor on the city’s pension plans and reform.
Hyde said when taking the interim position, “It gets us to the next president, to serve as a bridge.”
Early in October, FSCJ selected AGB Search of Washington, D.C., to find its next president.
