Visitors and prospect tenants and buyers at eTown could soon have a place to check in for more information.

Carlton Construction Inc. is set to build the eTown Welcome Center at the southern entrance to the residential and commercial development off Interstate 295.

The city is reviewing a permit application for Carlton Construction to build the single-story welcome center at a cost of almost $1.7 million at 11003 E-Town Parkway.

Plans show the center will comprise 4,020 square feet of interior space and 1,363 square feet of unenclosed space.

ELM Inc. is the architect and interior design is by Design Cooperative LLC.

In late September, eTown developer The PARC Group applied for a permit to build the foundation for the welcome center. Horizontal development for the 1.73-acre site was approved Sept. 11.

Plans show space for the welcome center, conference area, workroom, “The Hub” and prep area and storage.

The almost 4,800-square-foot center will include an event lawn, according to plans filed with a Mobility Fee Calculation Certificate application.

The city also is reviewing a permit application for the foundation construction.

The eTown development, along Interstate 295 and Florida 9B, announced that the first two neighborhoods in eTown comprise Edison by Toll Brothers and Marconi by David Weekley Homes and ICI Homes.

Both neighborhoods will feature one- and two-story home designs of 2,500 to more than 4,000 square feet.

Neighborhoods are expected to open in summer 2019.

The proposed Village Center commercial project in eTown is in city zoning and site plan review.

The city also is reviewing site plans for nonresidential parcels at eTown just east of Florida 9B.

Updates are posted at eTownJax.com, which describes the project: “For forward-thinking home-buyers in Northeast Florida and beyond, eTown is a smart-living community built around the belief that technology, sustainability, and convenience enhance a modern way of life.”
