Gerri Boyce, director of media relations for JEA, announced her retirement Thursday after 20 years with the public utility.

Boyce said she informed JEA administrators of her intent Thursday morning. She will complete her duties at the utility May 10 with an official retirement date set for Aug. 16.

JEA Media Relations Manager Gina Kyle will take on Boyce’s duties. Boyce said the utility has not decided if her position will be filled.

Boyce has been in media relations with JEA for nearly 14 years. She previously was the agency’s manager of employee communications.

She joined JEA in 1998 and also worked for Methodist Medical Center, University Medical Center and Home Builders Insurance since coming to Jacksonville.

“I’ve been practicing PR in Jacksonville for 30 years, and I’m looking forward to spending time on Amelia Island where I moved 1½  years ago,” Boyce said.

“It’s been a great job. JEA has — bar none — the best employees in this community,” she said.
