Jacksonville-based RS&H Inc. is renovating its Deerwood Park area headquarters at a job cost of $1.3 million, according to a permit issued Wednesday by the city.

Emerald C’s Development Inc. is the contractor for the renovations to the approximately 70,000 square feet of space the company leases in the Waterview I office building at 10748 Deerwood Park Blvd. S.

Aaron Curtis, RS&H vice president of commercial realty, said the company is renovating its office space and implementing new workplace standards.

He said those standards are designed to create “a more collaborative workplace, with enhancements to connectivity and more spaces where quick collaboration can happen.”

RS&H also is upgrading its cafe area and adding a gym.

The space will make way for almost 40 more workspaces.

The work should be completed in April, the company said.

RS&H provides architecture, engineering and consulting services to clients needing facility and infrastructure projects for land, air and space.

The company has more than 300 employees in the Jacksonville office headquarters.

Curtis said RS&H has worked in more than 50 countries. It experienced a 15 percent growth in employment nationwide in fiscal 2018.

“The Jacksonville office renovation is part of a larger company initiative,” he said by email.

In the past fiscal year, it renovated four offices that “inspired the building blocks of our new branded interiors standards.”

Nationwide, RS&H says it has more than 1,200 associates in nearly 60 offices.

“By investing in our people and culture, we’ll bring associates closer together to easily share ideas and help each other by fostering increased inspiration, motivation, and engagement in the places we work,” he said.

While the renovations are taking place, many employees are working next door in temporary space in the Waterview II building.

The 85,000-square-foot Waterview I building was developed in 2002.
