Riverside will gain a salad restaurant at the 501 Riverside building now that Tossgreen has applied for a permit to build-out on the ground floor.
The Tossgreen at 501 Riverside Ave. will be the second in the Downtown area.
It also operates in the SunTrust Tower, soon to be VyStar Tower, at 76 S. Laura St.
Jacksonville-based Tossgreen intends to lease 1,654 square feet of space in Suite 107 at the Riverside building, which is anchored by TIAA Bank.
The building is at Forest Street and Riverside Avenue.
Tossgreen owner Manali Patel said the opening tentatively is expected in mid-May.
The restaurant will have internal and external access at the building. A permit application shows the build-out cost as $35,000.
Tossgreen received Downtown Investment Authority approval last fall for a $33,080 forgivable loan to open the restaurant.
DIA documents show that the loan, forgivable over five years if the owner maintains employment and square footage requirements, will help pay for $294,834 in tenant improvements.
The restaurant owner is Bhalani & Sons – 4 Inc., of which Patel is president.
Tossgreen must maintain at least seven full-time equivalent employees a year.
For the SunTrust location, the DIA provided a retail enhancement forgivable loan.
Tossgreen also operates at St. Johns Town Center.
A location at Tinseltown is closed for renovations, according to the DIA term sheet.
Patel said that was not open yet and she is negotiating the lease.
