St. Johns County issued the building permit Wednesday for Northeast Florida’s first Publix GreenWise Market.
HGR Construction Inc. is the contractor for the 25,098-square-foot natural foods market at a cost of $3 million at 250 Pine Lake Drive in Nocatee Town Center.
The contractor, of Altamonte Springs, also will build two retail buildings on the site.
The county issued permits Wednesday for a 8,545-square-foot retail building at a cost of almost $1.03 million at 295 Pine Lake Drive and a 6,946-square-foot retail building at a cost of $833,400 at 250 Pine Lake Drive.
The three buildings comprise the 40,588-square-foot Nocatee Town Center East, Phase 1. Construction is scheduled for completion in early 2020.
In February, Lakeland-based Publix Super Markets Inc. confirmed it would open its first Northeast Florida GreenWise Market in Nocatee.
Jacksonville-based Skinner Bros. Realty and The PARC Group announced previously that Nocatee Town Center will feature both the first GreenWise Market in Northeast Florida as well as a Publix, which also operates in the Town Center.
That 61,400-square-foot Publix was built in 2010 at 120 Marketside Ave. and is being remodeled at a cost of $875,000, according to a permit issued by St. Johns County.
The new shopping center will feature golf cart parking as well as walkable waterfront space.
A second Northeast Florida GreenWise is planned in the Shoppes at World Commerce Center, according to St. Johns County documents. Publix has not confirmed that site.
Publix opened three GreenWise stores about a decade ago but revamped the concept.
The first new GreenWise Market opened in October in Tallahassee and the second opened Thursday in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Three more stores are scheduled to open this year in Lakeland and Boca Raton and in Mountain Brook, Alabama.
Opening dates have not been announced for five stores in Nocatee, Fort Lauderdale, Odessa and in Marietta, Georgia, and Lexington, South Carolina.
