The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Jacksonville Transportation Authority are reminding the public about how decisions on bridge and bus route closures will be made as Hurricane Dorian approaches.
In social media posts Monday morning, JSO officials said all bridges in Duval County are open. During a 5:10 p.m. media briefing Sunday, Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said bridge closures will begin when sustained winds reach 40 mph.
For bus routes, JTA officials said that as of 9 a.m. Monday, no decision has been made about suspending transit service for Tuesday and Wednesday.
“We continue to monitor Dorian and potential impacts to our area,” JTA spokesman David Cawton said in a written statement.
Cawton said JTA officials will share decisions with media and on its social media outlets.
JTA announced Sunday that it is providing free shuttles out of Evacuation Zones A and B. That service started at 10 a.m. Monday as public shelters in Duval County opened.
Officials want to remind residents that the pickup locations at Jacksonville Beach Elementary, Mayport Middle School and Fletcher High School are not shelters.
Information on shelter locations are available at JaxReady.com or by calling 630-CITY.
JTA suspended service of the St. Johns River Ferry on Monday.
