Curtis Kelly has a diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer.
When he called Builders Care, he also had a rotting bathroom floor.
That presented a very real threat for Kelly. The weight of the bathroom fixtures on the rotting wood posed the possibility the toilet would fall through the floor.
It was a straightforward solution.
Builders Care reinforced the floor joists and installed tile that was donated to the project. A new sink and vanity also were donated for the bathroom.
When the repairs were made, Kelly once again had full use of the bathroom without fear of falling through the floor.
Builders Care received a voice mail.
“Hi Justin, this is Curtis Kelly. I just wanted to call you and tell you how much I appreciate everything you and the people over at your company have done for us. That new floor was a lifesaver and the gentleman was very courteous.
“I greatly appreciate everything, I really do. I can’t tell you how much it means to me, because we were starting to worry about having to move out. So you guys saved me, and I really thank you. I will never forget it. Have a good day. Bye-bye.”
Justin Brown, executive director of Builders Care, said the organization feels privileged to be able to come to the aid of people in distress, whether the project is large or small.
“We are grateful to the growing number of Caring Builders who’ve committed to joining us to restore safe conditions and peace of mind to the most vulnerable of our neighbors. Together, it’s what we do,” he said.
