The Jacksonville Bar Association has a history of presenting educational, well-attended, and even sometimes entertaining CLE seminars. The Bar sent out a survey last year asking members what kinds of CLE seminars you want to see. You answered in no uncertain terms that you wanted ethics hours. The Bar has answered your request. We are excited to present our Second Annual Raymond Ehrlich Seminar. Eight CLE hours have been approved. We will have great speakers coming from right here in Jacksonville and as far away as Maryland to speak at this year’s seminar.

Headline speakers will include George W. Shadoan, Esq., Professor James Pierce and Roger J. Dodd. Shadoan practices in the areas of Medical Malpractice, personal injury, and products liability. He attended Georgetown University and is a current member of the Maryland Bar Association, The Bar Association of the District of Columbia and currently serves as president of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice. Shadoan will give a presentation on delivering the compelling closing argument. Pierce is an emeritus professor at the University of Florida School of Law. While teaching at UF, Pierce developed their clinical programs, and taught trial practice, criminal procedure and evidence. Recently retired, Pierce has taught at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and Florida Coastal School of Law. Before his teaching career, he served as a first assistant public defender in Gainesville. Pierce will lecture on ‘Setting the Stage: The Opening Statement’.

Another headline speaker is Roger Dodd. ‘The Power Cross-Examination- Controlling the Runaway Witness’. Dodd is widely recognized for his expertise on the subject and is currently lecturing across the nation. He currently practices with Dodd and Turner, P.C. in Valdosta.

Lunch will be served during a lecture from Frank ‘Sonny’ Seiler, who was defense counsel for James Williams during his murder trial. The trial became such a great story that it inspired the writing of the best seller “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” Not only was he part of the inspiration, he also had a role in the movie. He is the proud owner of Uga, mascot of the University of Georgia and currently resides in Savannah. We will also present the Raymond Trial Advocacy Award during lunch.

If you would like to hear some great presentations on trial procedure or if you need CLE hours, this is the seminar for you. Please contact the Bar office at 399-4486 with any questions. We look forward to another great seminar.
