Applications sought for District Court of Appeal

Applications are being sought to fill a vacancy on the First District Court of Appeal created by the retirement of Anne C. Booth.

Applications will be screened by the First District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission, who will send nominees to Gov. Jeb Bush. The governor then has 60 days from the receipt of the nominees to make the appointment.

Applicants must be a resident within the First District, a registered voter and have been a member in good standing of The Florida Bar for the preceding 10 years. Application forms are available on The Florida Bar’s website application page or by calling (904) 630-1540. Ten copies of the completed application must be received by Jeanne Miller no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 7, at 220 East Bay St., 14th Floor, Jacksonville, 32202. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of Oct. 18 or Oct. 25 in Tallahassee.

Members currently serving on the First District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission are Jeanne M. Miller and Steven K. Yablonski, of Jacksonville; Melissa F. Allaman, Vikky R. Shirley, Monesia Taylor Brown, Carlos Muniz, Stephen Turner, Lawrence E. Sellers Jr., all of Tallahassee; and Edward P. Fleming of Pensacola.
