Ascension St. Vincent’s opened its first free-standing emergency room in Jacksonville on June 25, with a second on the way.

The emergency room at 9820 Hutchinson Park Drive in the Arlington area is open 24/7. It offers the same services as an emergency room in a hospital.

It is located in the Kendall Town Center adjacent to an Ascension St. Vincent’s Health Center.

The 13,000-square-foot building was completed at a cost of $15 million.

The system’s second free-standing ER at 8083 Parramore Road in Collins Town Center in Westside is expected to open later this summer.

In October, Ascension St. Vincent’s President Tom VanOsdol said the projects reflect the Jacksonville health system’s “desire to provide convenient access to compassionate, personalized care across our region.

“Our community emergency rooms will provide patients with 24/7 access to emergency care in convenient locations, complementing our existing network of primary care, urgent care, specialty care offices and health centers,” he said.
