Baptist Health is upgrading the cafeteria and conference space on the eighth floor of its 10-story adult tower at the Downtown Southbank at a cost of almost $4.1 million.

Baptist Health System Inc. is listed as the contractor for the project, which covers 15,477 square feet of space in the tower at 800 Prudential Drive.

The city issued the permit Oct. 8.

Wesley Roberts, Baptist Health manager of  media and public relations, said Oct. 11 the Tower 8 renovation was a scheduled capital project “to modernize the café and to update the conference room space for our team members, physicians and our patients’ visitors.”

Roberts said the new space will provide a new serving area for a café, and half of the floor will be a dining space with a view of the St. Johns River.

The other half of the floor will be conference room space comprising three videoconference rooms “with the latest technology equipment.”

Roberts said the project is scheduled to be completed March 2022.

The baptistjax.com site says the Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville Top of the Tower Cafeteria serves a full breakfast, lunch entrees, salad bar and grill. Breakfast is 7-10 a.m. Monday-Friday and lunch 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday.
